He who dies with the most toys...still dies

Make no bones about it, I love technology. Being a gadget freak and a social hound I like the traction it creates among relationships. Networking and social sites have been a buzz for a few years now and I can not imagine myself living a life without them. Kind’ a makes me wonder 'How in the world did we live before their advent?' Ask yourself this question, do I use technology judiciously? If the answer is an emphatic YES, what follows may not interest you.

Flashback to 2001: Americans made the mistake of relying too much on technology and not enough on human intelligence to interpret. As a race we haven’t learned enough from the incident as the 26/11 Mumbai incident shows.

There is plenty available in the world to use. However, just because something is available, doesn't mean we have to use it! Here is another point of view. Misuse of technology makes us lose personal communication. Technology is terrific -- as long as it supports and enhances your cause and audience.

Businesses have embraced technology like one of its own. The greatest challenge businesses face these days is faulty communication. Corporate communication is all about using technology to create traction and advertise effortlessly. Use technology to support and not vice-versa. At the end of the day technology helps you do whatever you want to do. So using it productively or not is a choice you make and live with it.

"Even in such technical lines as engineering, about 15% of one's financial success is due one's technical knowledge and about 85% is due to skill in human engineering, to personality and the ability to lead people." - Dale Carnegie

Relationships are vital to business success. Modern technology should be used as a means and not the do all and end all of business.

The single most powerful advantage judicious use of technology can give us is learning. However, one should have the understanding of the power it imparts. Just like everything else, powerful technology in the wrong hands can only lead you to disaster. Overdose of technology frills dilutes the power it imparts to learning.

The perfect computer has been developed. You just feed in your problems and they never come out again.
